The
practice believes in
vaccination for dogs, cats and rabbits.
Puppies are
vaccinated from 8 weeks of
age, with a second injection at 10 weeks. These pups are fully
protected and able to go out at 12 weeks old.
Kittens can have
their first injection
from 9 weeks with a second shot 3 weeks later.
Rabbits can be
vaccinated as young as 9
weeks. All animals should have annual booster vaccinations, and
reminder cards are routinely sent out at the correct time.
It is practice policy to promote
neutering of all pets- both
to reduce unwanted litters and for health benefits.
Cats of both sexes
should be neutered at
about 6 months of age.
Male dogs can be
castrated any age from
6 months. Female dogs can be spayed either before their first season
(usually 6 and a half to 7 months of age) or 3-4 months after a season
at any age.
Rabbits of either
sex can be neutered at
4-5 months or older. We are also able to castrate male guinea pigs and
rats so that multi-animal groups can live together, rather having to be
housed separately- phone the surgery to discuss the procedures for
these small pets.
All neutering operations are surgical procedures and need to be booked
in advance. If we have not seen your pet before it will always be
necessary to check him or her before admission.
